Topic: IUI #2.........here we go again.

It's been a while, our first and last IUI was March 2009. This is how that first cycle went:

Cd #1  2/23/09
Clomid 50mgs 2/25-3/1
I started taking 2000mgs of Metformin daily 1 month prior to the start of cycle.
OPK+ CD 14 3/8/09
IUI 24 hours later on 3/9/09
AF arrived on 3/25/09

I had 3 follicles that cycle ranging from 17mm-20mm. My lining was fine. However, my estrogen level was only 79. My Dr. chalked that up to lab error. My 7 DPO progesterone level was 21.2  We used donor 060L for this cycle.

This cycle our protocol will differ somewhat. We are using a new donor. I am still taking the Metformin 2000mgs daily. I'm taking 100mgs of Clomid on cd's 3-7. We will do an HCG trigger shot the evening of my + OPK if my u/s at the Dr looks good. I will have my IUI done 36 hours after the trigger.

I have PCOS and endometriosis. I've had 3 surgeries for the endo and I've done 6 months of Lupron shots for the endo.

Re: IUI #2.........here we go again.

I know everyone is different, we got pregnant form our first cycle with no meds.  We copied twomoms with our timing being 7 hours after positive opk and 12 hours after.  I know some have success with later insems, but maybe you can do one early and late? Just a thought reviewing our success.  Which donor are you changing to ?

We have a list of donors and when we order I go down the list and see who is available. We don't let ourselves get too attached to any one donor anymore because you never know what will be available. We do our IUI later because of the trigger shot, that timing on that is pretty reliable that you'll ovulate 36 hours after it's given. If this cycle doesn't work out when we start trying again after our break I think maybe we'll do 2 IUI's, although statistically it does not raise your chances all that much.

Re: IUI #2.........here we go again.

Hi Ladies,

I notice in one of your post you mentioned using donor 060L. My partner and I have decided thats who we are going to use as our donor. Is there any particular reason why you decided to use a different donor? Do you know of anybody else who has used this donor? Any information you give us would be greatly appreciated. This is our first TTC and are very curious about the donor we chose. Thanks!!

Re: IUI #2.........here we go again.

I don't know anyone else who has used that donor. We used him our first time around but he was not our first choice. Our first choice at the time was not available. The second time around we used a differant donor because he was available and met more of our criteria. We learned pretty quickly that unless you are willing to buy a large number of vials at 1 time you need to be flexible with donors. You never know what will be available when you need to order. We have a list of donors and start at the top and go down the list until we find one that is available in IUI format when we are ready to order. Good luck to you!

Re: IUI #2.........here we go again.

We've decided to do back to back IUI's this cycle! I'm so excited! I have a call out to my Dr's office that won't be returned until tommorow, to see what kind of timing she would want to do. I'm thinking 12 and 36 hours past trigger, but I wonder if she'll suggest 24 and 48 hours past trigger.

Re: IUI #2.........here we go again.

Today is CD 14 and still no + OPK, which is not unusual for me. I have an ultrasound Monday morning to check my follicles. I have SO much pressure/pain on both sides of my pelvis, I'm wondering if I have a follicle on each ovary. My sperm is being delivered Monday, we went with donor 180L this time around.

Re: IUI #2.........here we go again.

Of course after writing this my OPK is *almost* positive! I just called my Dr. , luckily she's on call this weekend. The plan is to test again tonight and again in the morning. If it's truly + in the morning I am to do my trigger shot before I go to work in the morning and we'll do the IUI ASAP on Monday morning and the 2nd one will be done Tuesday morning. I'm really hoping my + holds off until tommorow morning. I wish I was off tommorow but that wouldn't do me any good as my sperm isn't being delivered until Monday! The sperm is in town at the Fed Ex office, it's just not been delivered yet cause it's a weekend! Drama!

Re: IUI #2.........here we go again.

My OPK was + at 10am this morning and I triggered with HCG 6 hours later at 4pm. Tommorow my first IUI will be ASAP after the sperm arrives. Then we'll do another Tuesday morning.

Re: IUI #2.........here we go again.

TWW Symptoms:

1-5 DP IUI - lots of cramps, probably from the rough IUI's
6 DP IUI - very heavy sore breasts
5,6, 7, 8 DP IUI - lots of heart burn and acid reflux
9 DP IUI - heavy sore boobs, nausea, appetite off, heartburn, lots of bloating, tons of creamy CM. I've had that since about 3 DP IUI.
Faint BFP's on Accu clear and FRE. It could still be trigger, so we are still in a holding pattern. I'm just trying to open my heart to acceptance, accepting whatever the answer is for us.
10 DP IUI - Temp is up. Lots of creamy, almost watery CM. Cramps and backache this morning. FRE is darker this morning.
12 DP IUI - Temp is down, but still a degree over coverline. FRE is negative. Accu clear was a faint + last night. Boobs still heavy and sore. Lots of AF like cramps. Still lots of creamy/almost watery CM. Very emotional and tearful.

Re: IUI #2.........here we go again.

This cycle ended with a darker BFP on 14 DP IUI and then an early loss at 15 DP IUI. We are on a 1 month break and then we will begin doing at home inseminations but still following the same medication protocol.
