Topic: Surgery on the 11th

Well...

I'll be having open abdominal surgery on August 11.  I will be 18 weeks pregnant at the time.  They are removing a 17-21 cm ovarian cyst and my right ovary.  I'm pretty nervous about the whole thing...but I am hoping this is the best choice for both myself and the baby.  The baby has been doing fine and has been measuring a few days ahead of schedule.  Heart rate is usually in the upper 150's.  I've been able to hear it on doppler for several weeks now.  I'll hopefully get to find out the gender before the surgery.  I'd like to have that to focus on during this stressful time.  Hope everyone else is doing well.

Good Luck!!  I had that surgery on my left side 1 year almost to the day before I got pregnant.  Are they taking the fallopian tube as well?  My dr. took mine he said it would make TTC easier since I would have two tubes competing for 1 egg.

My friend had abdominal surgery to remove her gal bladder at similar gestation. She did fine, and the baby, now 4, is perfect! Good luck! I am sure your body will be happier after it is removed, and easier to recouperate now than when you have a newborn to take care of.
