Re: Kari

I'm doing two vials this month because it's kind of a practice month - I barely got my period back after BFing Justin, so I really didn't know what to expect, and I'm ovulating VERY late for me.

I can't believe we're in sync again!  Good luck to you!  smile

Re: Kari

We're doing 2 vials as well.   We have a limited number left of our donor.

Re: Kari

I actually pre-bought 8 vials of my donor when I heard he was getting married and having a baby, and his wife wanted him to stop donating, but he's still doing it on a limited basis.  Interestingly, the vials are dated and he made his donation about 6 weeks after I paid for the 8 vials!  I guess they sold them to me on speculation that he'd be back.

I'm hoping my timing is decent.  I always feel like it's a crap shoot when it comes down to the last few hours.  You two have always had quick luck, and I hope this month holds true to you for that!

Re: Kari

I hope our luck holds up as well.  I just panicked when I got the dewar and realized how few vials we have left and what if these 2 didn't work??!!!  We'd really like to have all our children by the same donor.  We'd be ok if we didn't but acutally our biggest worry is 3 from one donor and then one from another and what that last child would think of it.  Hopefully it wouldn't matter to them but you still worry.
Anyway, we only ever used Answer OPKs and I got my positive this morning.  But I still panicked and went and spent $40 on the smiley OPKs which I have never used before because everyone seems to swear by them.  I feel like a lunatic that I just did that but maybe it will ease my mind a bit, for now smile GOOD LUCK!  Let's hope to be prego buds smile

Re: Kari

Are you hoping for a boy this time around?

How is it going so far?  I had excellent timing (insemmed at 10pm last night and cervix was closed up this morning by 7), but the darn catheter fell off the syringe FOUR TIMES last night!  In the end, I tossed the catheter and just used the syringe and hope at least half got close to the right place.  I felt a lot running down my fingers as I tried to hold the two parts together.  If I do this again, I'm duct taping the two parts together.

Re: Kari

Wow wonder what was up with the catheter??  That's a big pain!!  Sounds like your timing was great though!  I really wish we could still go by my cervix opening cuz that was a BIG help but it is always open now since having a vag birth.
We are trying not to jump the gun and insem.  I got a positive OPK yesterday with Answer but it was even colored lines and not super duper positive and my positive is usually today anyway.  SO my test this morning was positive but I had also bought the smileys and it was negative.  I never used them before though so do I rely on them or no?  I am gonna take another test in a couple hrs and just hope both are positive and then I can know I can definitely go by that time to insem.
We would love to have 2 boys and 2 girls but honestly I would be happy with anything.  I do kinda feel for him if we only have ONE boy but we'll see what happens!!

Went back to look at exactly when the timing was with conceiving Lexi and I got my +OPK at exactly the same time in the morning on the same cycle day.  We insemmed at 12, 24 and 36 with her but we only have 2 vials this time so we are compromising at 15 and 30 hrs past to try to cover all bases.  So tonight and tomorrow smile

Re: Kari

My Answer OPK was about 140% darker than the test line and I got a + CBE smiley Thursday morning at 6 am.  I O'd sometime between 10 pm Thursday night and 7 am Friday morning.  Not that that means anything, but that was my timing.  Prior to that (10 pm  Wednesday night) both were negative.

With Justin's pregnancy, I had 80% on the Answer OPK at 6 am, + CBE smiley at 3 pm (didn't do both so I can't compare), O'd at about 3 am in the morning, and then had a 140% positive Answer OPK three hours later.  So my hormones can't be compared one cycle to the next when it comes to surges and those darn lines!

I had a vaginal birth with Justin, and my cervix is always open, but last night it made more of an egg shape and up to that point it was more of a skinny oval (leading up to O) or small circle (after O).  Also, the color changes subtly.  It's a light pink when I'm nowhere near O, darker pink as I'm approaching O, and more of a reddish pink when I'm really close.  The main difference with the color is that the cervix blends in with the surrounding tissue when it's not time, and stands out as a different color when it is time.

Re: Kari

Kari,

I can relate to your catheter experience!!! I had that happen both times I used the catheter sad The first time, I was pushing the plunger everrrrr so slowly and heard a *pop!* and realized instantly the catheter had popped off!! I was so upset and was sure that I had lost some swimmers, so I held it on with my other hand while I finished it but I swore half of it still seeped out at the catheter/syringe connection.

One other time, I decided I would try it again and I all at once realized that 'something' (tmi) was leaking out on the floor!!! I wasn't sure if it was cm or the swimmers but the catheter was off again and it felt loose when I put it back on!! I made a note on my calendar to NEVER use a catheter again - it wasn't worth the headache of worrying that everything was leaking out where the catheter and syringe meet!
