At Home BFP

Just thought I would put out there what we did, as we really enjoyed reading others' stories and seeing what worked. So here is our story simply put---

2 vials of ICI
Speculum
Northwest syringe and catheter combo
OPK's

This was our 3rd attempt. The first two attempts we used a different donor. The attempt that resulted with our BFP was with a new donor. So, on our 3rd attempt we decided to switch things up a bit. Rather than going completely based on what our OPK's said, we decided to look at the signs my body was giving. We used a speculum to look at my cervix starting on cycle day 8, and paid close attention to how open it was becoming, we also checked for fertile cm, and paid close attention to the ovulation cramping I began to feel (even though I still had not gotten a +OPK). We patiently waited for a positive opk/smiley, but when we noticed I had ALL of the signs of impending ovulation, we decided to go ahead and do our 1st vial of ICI. We started to believe that our previous timings of 12, 24, and 36 after +OPK may have been too late, since we think I ovulate very close to my LH surge. Anyway, we used the syringe/catheter combo; this was our first time using the catheter. We placed the sperm right at the opening. After insemination we propped my hips up for about 30 minutes. This AI was about 8 hours before we got our +OPK (7 p.m.). Our next insem happened about 4 hours after the first (11 p.m.)--this seems like strange timing we know, but we noticed that my cervix was starting to close and my cm was drying up, so we just went with it, and figured it had a better chance of creating a baby if it actually made it into my body. We are thinking that this second attempt was probably right around the time I would have gotten a +OPK, but we aren't 100% sure because I didn't take another OPK test until the middle of the night (3 a.m.) and this is when I finally got a smiley on the clearblue easy test. So, after our AI attempts we just crossed our fingers and hoped that it worked. One other thing that was different this attempt was that I had given up caffeine. I had been a regular coffee and tea drinker, but after reading over and over that caffeine could potentially decrease your fertility, I figured it was worth giving up during the ttc process. During the tww I didn't really have any definite signs, I actually was convinced it did not work. If I look back though I did have sore breasts, and for some reason began burping frequently at about 3DPO--this is extremely uncommon for me, so it did strike my DP and I as strange. Unfortunately for both of us this has yet to cease:)! So, this is pretty much how it worked for us! We are so happy to tell our BFP story and look forward to hearing those of all of the future moms to be out there!

Well, I did it!! Five months of prep and research, 3 vials, and now a little one on the way.

Between CBE OPKs and temping every morning, I was able to determine that my O was typically on CD17, and approx 12-18 hours after LH surge.

My insems went like this:
- 1 hour before insem ... 2-3 tsp Robitussin (for lots of CM)
- left vials on kitchen towel to defrost for 5 minutes, and then in my bra for 20 mins while I put some mellow background music on, went to the bathroom one last time, and set-up the speculum, Preseed, syringe/cath, mirror, flashlight, and pillow.
Once in place I put all the tools to work. The spec got a little Preseed, and then I drew a little Preseed into the syring/cath then held it upright to get the air out. With only Preseed in the syringe at this point, I drew the swimmers in as well. My strategy here was the fact that Preseed is supposed to be a "preservative" for the swimmers, so I figured it was best to make sure that they were all well-exposed
With the mirror guiding me, and a flashlight in my left hand, I manuevered to cath to the os. I slowley injected the swimmer/Preseed cocktail right into open. Most of it dribbled down and out. I closed the spec just slightly so that the pool of swimmers/Preseed literally drowned the os, and then had the big O. I stay hips-up for about 1-2 hours (either napping or reading).
My timing was:
12 hrs BEFORE LH surge
  2 hrs AFTER LH surge
18 hrs AFTER LH surge

Starting at 3 DPO I ate 1 cup of fresh pineapple (including the core), twice a day, until 6DPO.

My only symptoms before my +HPT were:
- mild heartburn from 2DPO on (I even got heartburn after eating cereal in the morning)
- mouthfuls of saliva from 5 DPO until present
- very slight nasal congestion

I tested after I was two days late (which, with an 11 day LP, was only 14DPO anyhow).

I have a regular 28 day cycle I started testing with opk's on the 13th day. The 16th morning I tested and it was neg we went shopping and the whole afternoon I was crampy so I came home and used another opk and it was positive. So we waited until 10:00 that night which was about 8 hours after a pos opk then used the other one the next morning about 9:00 which was about 19 hours past the first pos opk.
I laid arched with 3 pillows under me while my dh inserted the goods he put a little preseed in the catheter before the swimmers he also put preseed on the speculum it makes it alot more comfortable. The first vial I laid arched on my back for about an hour then rolled over and went to sleep for the night. The 2nd vial was in the morning I laid there for about an hour 1/2 then I needed to go potty! On the second day in the late afternoon I also had the cramping like the day before. So we were pretty sure we covered all our bases!
For symptoms really the only thing was my boobs were tender from about 5 days past ovulation.
I got a pos preg test on 10 days past ovualtion then that evening had cramping and some dark brown bloody discharge around my cervics I'm pretty sure now that was implantation! I hope this helps some body get their BFP!

I have been trying several cycles unsuccessfully: several times at home, 4 times doctor assisted without meds, twice doctor-assisted w/ Clomid. I became pregnant on my second Clomid cycle (50mg, CD 3-7). Although my doctor did US to monitor my follicles with the intention of having me use a trigger shot to induce ovulation, I always caught my surge on cycle day 14, so I never ended up using my trigger shot.

LMP: 09/22/09. Due date: 06/29/09. I am told that physicians here induce/deliver at 39 weeks for older moms (I will be 39 when I deliver), so I anticipate an induction date of 06/22/09.

I am a single mother of one, a 17 year old son w/ Asperger's syndrome (essentially, high-functioning autism). He is a joy, but I have always wanted another child. I waited a long time, hoping to meet Mr. Right, but he must have been otherwise occupied, and I wasn't willing to sacrifice my fertility any longer. Truthfully, I want a child more than I want a husband, anyway, LOL!

Some of the things that I did: Prenatal vitamins everyday, baby aspirin daily, green tea supplement daily, and natural Progesterone cream. I also took B6 to help with my luteal phase. I can't think of anything else.
I hope this helps others! I know it's inspiring to read other persons stories.

Thanks, Veronica

This was our 2nd cycle, doctor-assisted IUI

I am 26, DH is 30.

July, the first month we TTC, my OBGYN prescribed 50mg Clomid on CD 5-9 to trigger ovulation. I got my +OPK on CD 14 and did the IUI procedure approximately 27 hours after at the doctors office. I could feel ovulation pains start about 24 hours after the +OPK, so I knew I was ovulating around then. During that TWW, I experienced a bunch of symptoms that I attributed to pregnancy, such as sick stomach and fatigue, but I turned out not to be pregnant and my period showed up like clockwork 13-14DPO.

We decided to try a second time this month in August. My doctor put me on Clomid 50mg on CD 5-9, I had a follicle scan on CD 13 which showed 2 mature follicles, and my doctor did the IUI procedure approximately 27 hours after my first +OPK. I started feeling ovulation pains about 22-24 hours after my first +OPK.

During this TWW, I started feeling a tingly sensation in my BBs around 3 DPO, which lasted until about 5DPO. I normally have no soreness in my BBs around the time of my period, so this was very unusal for me. I also experienced twinging/pulling/cramping feelings in my lower abdomen (like a combination of ovulation pains and AF cramps) from 4DPO and lasting until about 7DPO. From 7DPO until 13DPO I experienced digestive issues like constipation (moderate) and bloating. Also, from about 10DPO until now, I have been waking up in the middle of the night to blow my nose and get a drink of water because my nose is stuffy and my throat is dry.
