You'd think I hadn't already done this twice before! We are ttc #3. I ran out of smiley OPKS yesterday and couldn't find them in our local stores so had to get the clear blue with lines. This morning at about 10am, I got a positive-ish. Meaning, one edge of the line was equal to the test line, but the rest was still much lighter. The other times I tested today are kind of mute because I had super dilluted pee, so it didn't come out much of anything.

Finally tonight I find some smileys at a different store. Negative.

So... now what. The plan was 12 then 24 past +. If this morning WAS postive, it would be tonight and tomorrow morning. If it wasn't, I would clearly be inseming too early.

Today is day 16 of my cycle. Most cycles, but not all, I get my + on day 16.

Plenty of clear CM, but no egg white stretch CM. DH says my cervix looks more open then yesterday with clear CM pooling, but not the egg white CM.

Opinions? This baby making stuff is hard work, lol.

I kind of buried this message in another post, so I'm making a separate one. My syringe came apart where the syringe meets the catheter last night during the insemination several times, losing most of the swimmers. Just a word to the wise - I could tell when I attached it it wasn't making a tight connection but used it anyway. In the future if I do more insems, I will be taping the two parts together, even if it seems like a good fit.

This may have been a very expensive mistake, and I just want to warn others so you can prevent this.

Another tip to avoid spilling anything that FriendAmy gave me a few years back is to put the vial in Play-Doh so you can use both hands to fill the syringe and not risk tipping the vial over.

Maybe this should be on the other side but a couple of you successful moms have posted that grapefruit juice really helped increase CM. I hate the stuff but gagged down a 10oz bottle this evening then realized it the label said there was only 30% grapefruit juice in what I drank-will shop for 100% tomorrow-but how much of the stuff did you drink? I can stand fresh grapefruit with a tiny bit of sugar on it-do you think there would be enough in one grapefruit a day? I think I will have to keep this up for a week until I AI.

Cloth Diaper Help

I am 15 weeks pregnant and starting to think about what kind of diapers we want to buy. I know there has been tons of posts about cloth diapers but the search doesn't work so I thought I'd ask again.

My sister has a flip diaper that she let me have and I like it because it's one size and it's not as bulky as an all in one. I heard that bumgenius is really good. I'm worried about both of these fitting a newborn.

I'm looking for other suggestions. We are hoping to save money and of course be environmentally responsible. But we're also trying to make this somewhat easy (that's why I like the pocket diapers). I have no problem using prefolds, a pin, and a cover but my partner isn't into this as I am. So we're hoping to find a nice compromise. If you have a favorite cloth diaper please let me know! And also, if you started cloth at birth and what brand fit a newborn nicely.

Thanks so much for your help!

~Kari

Talked with the doctor about Riley's sleep

I'm not sure what I want to do right now or am comfortable with but here is what he suggested. . Basically to let him cry some. Riley is waking up every 1-2 hours, here and there 3 hours. Here is what he said. .
Do my normal routine for bedtime, have him relaxed, warm and full and then place him in bed awake. Go back every 5, then 10 and no longer then 15 minutes at this age and tell him he is okay, that it is night night time and not to pick him up. He also suggested doing this each time he wakes up at night if it has been less then 4 hours since he nursed. So I'm so unsure and confused! I do know that I for the life of me can not rock him back to sleep at night, he has to nurse if just for a few minute and this is getting a little annoying. . but of coarse I'll do what he needs. He said I can turn on the fisher price aquarium at night (I was worried it would stimulate him) and that I can continue to rock him to sleep at nap time. So what I am confused on & worried about is if he keeps waking up wont he be confused if half the time I wont pick him up & then turn on the aquarium and then every 4 hours will pick him up to nurse. I don't think he is starving by any means so would be just get used to it? Would he be confused as to why I rock him to sleep at nap and not bed time? I just keep thinking this will all confuse him and then not work. So I did semi try it the past two nights to see how it worked though. The first night I laid him awake he fussed/cried for 25 minutes and fell asleep. I went in a lot and said your okay, I love you its night night time and he did okay, I was surprised! He woke up after 4 hours which was amazing but this was also after his first night of trying solids and nursed him, the second time was 2 hours later so I just turned on his aquarium and he fussed for about a half an hour. Then the second night going to bed was about the same but then when he woke up during the night I just turned on the aquarium and he fell right back to sleep. . no fussing however when he woke up near the 4 hour mark I did nurse him. . and he nursed a LOT more and better then he did when I would nurse him every 1-2 hours. So I guess it went a little better the second night since he did not even fuss really and feel back to sleep quickly each time though he did wake up 4-5 times. In my mind I keep thinking he is starving but has given up on me. So I'm not really for the CIO method but can't see Riley learning to fall asleep on his own or sleeping any better at night unless I do. . though I'm not sure if I'm ready fully to do it. What do you guys think? What little I tried went a lot better then I expected. The doctor said the first 3 nights would be the worse and then better by night 5. He said the average baby will cry for about an hour and half the first time .. though you still go to them every 5-15 minutes to comfort them and Riley did way way better then that. So should I stick it out or is it just all confusing him? I've never really let him fuss before so just letting him fuss/cry was sooo hard. But he would cry for a minute or two and then calm down and then fuss so it really was not that bad and I could tell he is was trying and doing well. The boy's doctor is very very sympathetic to the kids when we take them in and never likes seeing Riley not feel well and was awesome for helping with his reflux so I know he is not the type to just let them cry in an unfair way however I still feel so unsure!

Solids. . How much and when?

Got the go ahead from the doctor to start rice cereal. I was very excited. . I have a big guy and figured it would be a nice break to the nursing all the time. Zacherious hated it but man Riley took right to it! His first bite he loved and cried if I took to long. I asked the doctor how much and he said that Riley will tell me when he is finished but he ate WAY more then I expected!! He was not even due for a nursing quite yet but probably ate at least the size of a stage 2 baby food jar, maybe even a a size 3 jar (amount wise) in a bowl of the cereal mixed with breast milk. Then come time to nurse before bed and he was to full. Given I fed him closer to bed time then I wanted to. Is that okay? He had about 2 oz of formula in with the cereal. The doctor said to let him eat all he wanted at his meal. . he did say just once a day though until he is 5 months old. So when do I add in oatmeal and maybe in his 5th month for stage one fruits and veggies and just rice cereal and oatmeal in his 4th?

So for a while now, at least 2-3 months I've had a pain in my left breast.. it happened on day when I was really engorged, so must have been in the first few weeks and then gets really sore now any time I'm a little more full then normal if he has gone longer then eating. . it hurts to laugh or even cough but then feels better when he nurses, always a little tender in this one spot though. Right now he nursed well and I'm not full but since I was more full then normal over night it hurts quiet a bit right now. This is a all the time thing. . is it normal? I'm pretty sure it is one milk duct or something and I can fell lump type thing. . kind of like when your engorged and you can feel them so I'm not sure.

I'm thinking of buying this book today. . just wondering though if it is pretty helpful? I've read up online a lot on idea's on no-cry solutions over the past several weeks so am afraid of buying a book that says the same ideas basically since I've done that in the past on things. Is it a pretty good book? The reviews mostly talked about older children 12 plus months. Would it have any ideas on a 4 month old? I don't expect Riley to be sleeping all night yet but am hoping to do better then the eating every hour or so.
